Computer for working with the scanner
What computer do you need to work with the scanner? SCANOLOGY lists the requirements below for all its scanners. The minimum is the lower limit for the software to run. The manufacturer advises the recommendation for smooth work with larger scans.

Suggestions by model
A working suggestion, not an official individual model requirement. VRAM is graphics card memory and is not the same as RAM. SSD capacities are a 3D ING suggestion. Common to all suggestions: Intel Core i9 13th generation or newer, DDR5, dedicated NVIDIA RTX and Windows 11 Pro.

The configuration is a working suggestion based on the expected project scope. SCANOLOGY publishes general minimum and recommended requirements; separately confirmed official requirements for this model are not stated in the reviewed sources. Before you choose a computer, we check compatibility with the specific measurement kit and the software used.
03 / PRACTICAL NOTES ON CHOOSING A COMPUTER
Practical notes on choosing a computer
- Example mobile configuration: Core i9-14900HX, 64 GB DDR5, RTX 4080 Laptop with 12 GB VRAM, 2 TB NVMe and Windows 11 Pro. This is an example build, not a confirmed laptop model or a SCANOLOGY certificate.
- RTX 4080 Laptop has 12 GB VRAM, RTX 4090 Laptop 16 GB. RTX 4070 Laptop and RTX 4060 Laptop have 8 GB and do not reach the general recommendation of 12 GB VRAM; this does not mean automatic incompatibility.
- For 128 GB RAM, check the capacity of the specific computer, motherboard, BIOS and memory modules. A desktop workstation is the practical choice at this scale.
- USB Type-B in the specification describes the connector on the device, not a mandatory port type on the computer. The computer needs a suitable USB 3.x data port and the specified cable.
- For wireless models, check the complete kit: scanner, receiver or router, the computer connection and compatible drivers. A built-in Wi-Fi 6 card alone does not confirm a suitable measurement connection.
- For NimProbe, the exact physical connector is not confirmed in the reviewed specification. The wireless standard of TrackScan Sharp is not necessarily the same for all versions; confirm it for the chosen version.
- i-Hole uses the computer of the host measurement system and is not a standalone scanner model.
- Match the choice of processor and graphics card to the current release of DefinSight or other software in use. A newer processor or graphics series name alone does not mean verified compatibility.
- The reviewed manufacturer baseline lists Intel and NVIDIA. Support for AMD, Intel Arc, macOS or Windows on ARM is not confirmed by this table.
- SSD capacities are a suggestion for work and archiving, not the manufacturer’s published minimum. A separate backup archive is a sensible addition.
